Caring for Your Great Lengths Hair Extensions

Congratulations on your new hair extensions. Take great care of them at home by following these guidelines provided by Glo's Hair Extensions Specialists, who are certified in the application of Great Lengths Hair Extensions.

After Your Installation

Proper care protects both the hair and the keratin bonds, helping your extensions wear beautifully throughout their lifespan.

The First 48 Hours

Do not shampoo for two days after installation.

Avoid excessive moisture at the bond area during this time.

Your Two-Week Follow-Up

Return to the salon approximately two weeks after application so we can inspect your bonds and ensure everything is performing as expected.

Washing & Drying

  • Always shampoo with your head upright (not flipped forward).
  • Gently squeeze excess water from the hair, do not scrub with a towel.
  • If air-drying, use a blow dryer to fully dry the attachment sites.
  • Avoid leaving bonds wet for extended periods.

Protecting the Bonds

  • Great Lengths bonds are sensitive to irregular water pH, chlorine, and saltwater.
  • Use the Great Lengths Anti-Tap Formula after every wash.
  • Before swimming, sauna use, or prolonged moisture exposure, saturate hair with water and apply Anti-Tap.
  • After swimming or heavy sweating, shampoo, condition, apply Anti-Tap, and fully dry the bonds.

Brushing & Daily Maintenance

  • Brush at least three times daily using the recommended extension brush.
  • Begin at the nape and brush row by row from scalp to ends.
  • Secure hair in a loose ponytail or braid while sleeping.
  • Tie hair back during wind-heavy activities to prevent tangling.

Consistent brushing prevents matting at the bond area.

Heat Styling

You may blow-dry, curl, or flat iron your extensions.
Just keep heat tools at least 1.5 inches away from the keratin bonds.

Normal Shedding

It’s normal to see some natural hair shed throughout the wear period.

The average person sheds 100–150 hairs per day. Since a full Great Lengths installation covers about one-third of the head, some naturally shed hairs remain attached to the bond until brushed out. This is not breakage or pulling, it’s part of the natural hair cycle.

Regular brushing prevents tangling and matting around those shed hairs.
