"How do I care for my Hair Extension once I leave the salon?"
Do NOT wash your hair for 48 hours after application. Give your extensions time to set.
Shampoo and Conditioning. Always stand the head up straight. Gently wet the hair with lukewarm water and apply the shampoo.
Bring the shampoo to a lather but do not rub the extensions. Fingers should gently run through the extensions top through bottom.
Rinse well and apply conditioner. Let the conditioner penetrate the extensions by allowing it to remain in the hair at least 5 minutes. Squeeze out the excess water from hair and pat dry with towel. Do not rub or twist the hair.
Combing & Drying. Use a product to detangle the hair before combing out your hair. You can allow your hair to air dry or blow dry hair extensions as normal. Use the extension brush on the top portion of your hair/Scalp area and you can use regular brushes on the bottom. It's best to brush your hair multiple times a day.
Sleeping. Before going to bed, your hair and extensions MUST be dry to prevent tangling!! When your hair is wet, the cuticles are open which can cause your extensions to tangle with your own hair while you sleep.Always wear your hair in a low ponytail or loose braid before bed.
How much do hair extensions cost at Glo?
«Hair extensions are a highly customized service, so pricing varies based on the method used, the amount of hair needed, and the result you want to achieve.
Generally speaking, our permanent hair extensions start at $1,000 and go up from there. Clip-ins start at $400.
At Glo Extensions Denver, most full installations fall into a higher price range due to the level of detail, quality of hair, and time required for proper application. Services like fusion (K-tip) extensions are typically the most involved, while tape-in options may require a lower initial investment depending on the look you’re going for.
We’ll walk you through all options during your consultation and provide exact pricing based on your hair and your goals.
Can I get hair extensions on short hair?
«Yes, as long as your hair is at least 3-4 inches long and in good condition, you can get hair extensions.

What is double drawn hair?
«Double drawn is the extra step to make sure that any of the shorter hairs are removed, resulting in consistent, lush volume from top to bottom of the hair extensions. No thinning ends, no filler hair — for density that makes a difference in every style.
What is full cuticle hair?
«If you're shopping for human hair extensions, full cuticle indicates a higher quality. It means that the hair's cuticle is intact. It hasn't been stripped away by damaging chemicals, so there's no need to coat hair with silicone to make it look healthy. The cuticle remains intact and naturally aligned, giving you unparalleled softness, natural movement, and seamless blending of your extensions, wash after wash.
What type of hair extensions do you offer?
«We specialize in Great Length keratin bond extensions. Glo is a Great Lengths Platinum Salon.
We also offer tape in extensions, and our own line of luxury clip in hair.
Can you color my hair with hair extensions in?
«Can we touch up your roots? Can we add highlights? Can we totally change your hair color?
It depends on what type of hair extensions you are wearing.
At Glo Extensions Denver Salon we offer a variety of different hair extensions made of 100% human hair which means they can be colored within reason.
Remember these tips:
- If you want to change your base color, do it before your extensions go in
- We can custom color your extensions before they get installed, ordering a color that's closest to what you want to limit the amount of change.
- Once extensions are in, we can touch up your new growth, but we should avoid anything too crazy.
- You an always add highlight, lowlights, or even pops of fashion color by adding in pre-colored extensions.
- To do an all over hair color, we can remove your extensions first, then reapply them after a color service.
How long do hair extensions last before I have to replace them?
«The lifespan of your hair extensions depends on the method chosen, how well they are maintained, and your individual hair growth.
Keratin Bond (K-Tip/Fusion) Extensions typically last 3 to 6 months before removal and replacement.
Tape-In Extensions can last 5 to 7 months with proper maintenance and regular move-up appointments.
Clip-In Extensions are a temporary option that can be applied and removed at home as needed. Because they are not worn continuously, they can be reused for a long time when properly cared for. Depending on the quality, they can last for years.
During your consultation, we'll recommend the method that best fits your lifestyle, maintenance preferences, and long-term hair goals.
What makes Great Lengths different from other keratin bond extensions?
«Great Lengths uses a proprietary keratin bond, strict quality controls, and ethically sourced Remy hair. The difference clients notice most is how the hair moves, blends, and wears over time. When installed correctly, Great Lengths bonds are lightweight, flexible, and designed to behave like natural hair—not stiff or bulky.
Just as important as the hair itself is the certification and experience of the stylist installing it.
Are Great Lengths keratin bonds safe for my natural hair?
«Yes—when applied and removed properly by a certified, experienced stylist. Part of your consultation is determining whether keratin bonds are the right choice for your hair type and lifestyle.
Hair health depends on:
- Proper strand sizing
- Correct bond placement
- Appropriate tension
- Professional removal
This is why Great Lengths extensions are not a DIY or “quick install” service.
How long do Great Lengths extensions last?
«Most clients wear their Great Lengths keratin bond extensions for 3 to 5 months, depending on hair growth, lifestyle, and home care. After that time, the extensions are professionally removed and can be reinstalled with new bonds if the hair is still in good condition.
Can you color or highlight my Great Lengths extensions?
«Yes. Great Lengths extensions are 100% human hair and can be professionally colored when appropriate. In many cases, we recommend selecting from Great Lengths’ extensive pre-colored shade range to minimize processing.
If custom coloring is needed, it is done before installation to protect both the hair and the bond.
How natural do Great Lengths extensions look?
«When properly installed, Great Lengths extensions are virtually undetectable. The strand-by-strand method allows for precise placement, natural movement, and seamless blending, even in fine hair or around the hairline.
People won’t notice extensions. They’ll notice better hair.
Are Great Lengths good for fine or thinning hair?
«They can be, but not in every case. Fine hair requires careful assessment, conservative strand sizing, and strategic placement. During your consultation, we evaluate density, breakage patterns, and growth to determine whether Great Lengths keratin bonds are suitable or if another method would be safer.
Are Great Lengths keratin bonds better than tape-in extensions?
«Great Lengths keratin bonds offer:
- More flexibility in placement
- No visible tabs
- Longer wear per install
Tape-ins can be a great option for certain hair types or maintenance preferences. If keratin bonds aren’t ideal for you, we’ll talk about tape-ins and other alternatives.
How much do Great Lengths extensions cost?
«Like any professional extension service, Great Lengths pricing varies based on your goals, natural density, desired length, and the amount of hair required.
Most full installations begin around $1,000+, with investment increasing depending on volume, length, and customization. Zonal volume or dimensional color blends will fall at different price points than full length transformations.
The most accurate way to determine your investment is through a complimentary 30-minute consultation. We’ll evaluate your hair, discuss your goals, and provide exact pricing before booking.
How do I know I’m getting authentic Great Lengths hair extensions?
«Authentic Great Lengths hair is only sold to certified salons through official distribution channels. It is not available for purchase online or through third-party suppliers.
At Glo Extensions Denver, all Great Lengths hair is ordered directly through authorized Great Lengths distributors. Each set arrives in official packaging and is traceable to the manufacturer.
If you ever have concerns, you can verify that a salon is certified through the Great Lengths Salon Locator or by contacting Great Lengths directly.
Premium pricing reflects the quality, ethical sourcing, and strict manufacturing standards behind the hair itself, not just the installation.
What is thermal fusion?
«Thermal fusion is the traditional Great Lengths application method. A small, pre-bonded keratin tip is softened with a controlled heat tool and molded around a section of your natural hair.
The heat is brief and localized, it does not contact the scalp. Once cooled, the bond becomes secure, flexible, and discreet.
When applied properly by a certified stylist, thermal fusion creates a comfortable, long-lasting attachment.
What is cold fusion?
«Cold fusion is an alternative Great Lengths attachment method that does not use heat. Instead, the keratin bond is applied using ultrasonic vibration, which breaks down the bond at a molecular level to attach it to your hair.
The result is similar in appearance and durability to thermal fusion. The choice between methods depends on hair type, density, and stylist preference.
Will keratin bond extensions damage my natural hair?
«Great Lengths bonds are made of a keratin polymer designed to mimic the protein structure of natural hair. Damage typically occurs from improper installation, skipped maintenance, or at-home removal, not from the keratin bonds themselves.
Professional removal is essential to protect your hair’s integrity.
Can Great Lengths Hair be reused?
«Great Lengths keratin bond extensions can not be re-applied.
GL Tapes can be re-used for a total wear time of 6-8 months.
Will Tape In Extensions Damage My Hair
«When applied and maintained correctly, tape-in extensions are one of the least damaging extension methods available. They do not require heat, sewing, or tension-heavy attachment.
Hair health depends on:
- Proper placement and sectioning
- Correct adhesive use and removal
- Timely maintenance appointments
At Glo, our process is designed to allow your natural hair to grow comfortably while wearing tape-ins.
How do tape-in extensions actually stay in the hair?
«Tape-in extensions are attached using a medical-grade adhesive that sandwiches a thin section of your natural hair between two lightweight extension taped tabs. When applied correctly, the adhesive holds securely while still allowing your hair to move and grow naturally.
Can people see or feel tape-in extensions?
«When properly placed, tape-ins should feel flat, lightweight, and comfortable, and they should not be visible. Placement is everything—especially around the hairline, crown, and part. This is why tape-ins should always be applied by an experienced extension specialist, not rushed or “stacked” incorrectly.
Are tape-ins good for fine or thinning hair?
«Yes—tape-ins are often one of the best options for fine or fragile hair because they distribute weight evenly and don’t require heat or sewing. They’re commonly used to add fullness through the front and sides of the head where thinning is most noticeable.
Not every fine-hair client is a tape-in candidate. Your consultation determines suitability.
Can tape-in hair be reused?
«Yes. High-quality tape-in hair—such as Great Lengths Tape-Ins and Amplify Tape-Ins—is designed to be reused with fresh adhesive. With proper care, the hair itself can last 6–7 months or longer.
How long does a tape-in installation take?
«A full head of tape-in extensions typically takes about one hour to install. Maintenance appointments are usually quicker than the initial installation.
What’s the difference between standard tape-ins and tape rows?
«Traditional tape-ins are applied in small wefts for targeted placement and flexibility. Amplify tape-ins (sometimes called tape rows) use wider, seamless wefts that provide faster application and more uniform coverage—ideal for clients who want fullness with fewer attachment points.
Do tape-in extensions work on short hair?
«They can, depending on the cut, density, and length. Short hair often requires strategic placement and layering to ensure the tapes remain hidden. This is something we evaluate carefully during your consultation.
How are ktip extensions attached?
«Each extension strand is pre-tipped with a keratin bond. The bond is gently fused to your natural hair and shaped by hand to create a secure, discreet attachment that moves naturally with your hair.
Will Ktip extensions damage my hair?
«When applied and removed correctly, fusion extensions should not damage your natural hair. Proper technique, correct placement, and professional removal are essential, which is why experience matters with this method.
How much do ktip extensions cost?
«Pricing varies based on the amount of hair needed and the final result you want to achieve. Fusion extensions are considered a premium service, and most installs are priced accordingly. You will receive exact pricing during your consultation.
Will ktip extensions work for my hair?
«This depends on your hair type, density, and overall condition. Fusion extensions work well for many clients, including those with finer hair, but the best way to determine suitability is through a consultation.
Can ktip hair be re-used?
«No, the hair cannot be reused. Keratin bonded hair extensions are long lasting and don't require any move-up appointments. But these fusion extensions must be professionally removed at the end of their lifecycle and new ones applied. .
