Because many manufacturers use a harsh pigmenting process—bleaching the hair in acid baths, then slapping on a silicone coating to fake the softness.They look nice brand new, but after a single wash? We put the hair through a full-day photo shoot: hot tools, multiple style changes, humidity, hairspray, bright lights, and wardrobe swaps. Then they took them home, washed and wore them again.
