“Can I get highlights or have my hair colored if I have hair extensions?”
A girl has a right to change up her hair color anytime, don’t you think? But that fact might be different if you have hair extensions already in place. Those long glorious locks are your prized possession, so treating them right is key to their look and feel. Does this matter when going to get your hair color done? Roots don’t want to wait on the answer, they just keep growing and growing, so here it goes. The answer is well…maybe.
It depends on what type of hair extensions you have. At Glo Extensions Denver Salon we offer a variety of different hair extensions made of 100 percent human hair to make you look your absolute glamorous best. The hair of your dreams. Long, flowing, and sexy to the core. Here’s the details you might need to have on coloring your hair with the different kinds of extensions we offer.
Hair Color and Fusion Hair Extensions
Fusion hair extensions are bonded to the root of the hair shaft with a keratinized protein bond. The type we offer at Glo are 100 percent human hair of the highest quality. This is real hair that already comes in 85 different color options. That being said when you have these beautiful extensions in for 3-5 months through different seasons, you may want to adjust your color a bit.
You can easily get highlights and color touch-ups on your root hair growth. That’s not an issue at all and won’t affect your extensions. If you want to do an all over color process, including your extensions that’s possible too as long as you stay in the same shade range or go darker. It’s too hard to lighten fusion extensions.
Hair color and Tape-In Hair Extensions
For tape-in extensions, we have Hotheads (AKA Hairtalk) Micro Strands, Pastels, and even Ombre colored hair extensions. The Hotheads brand come in over 50 color selections, so you should have no problem choosing the color that is closest to your own. You can even blend multiple packs for over 1000 custom color combinations that are truly unique and stunning in everything from brilliant blondes to sparkling redheads and every color in between. Your roots can be re-touched with color during your extension wear time, but you probably don’t want to color these actual extensions because it may interfere with the adhesive tape used to attach each piece.
Consider clip-in extensions to add highlights or enhance your hair color
We offer Great Length Clip-In “Hair U Wear” or Bellami Extensions. Both of these brands are made to go in and out of your style at your own leisure. There are tons of natural shades to choose from, so you shouldn’t have a problem matching your own hair color, whatever that may be at the moment. You would just take them out to have your hair colored or highlighted. Then just purchase the set that would naturally match your new hair color.
